TP-LINK has ok switches but they don't have anything competitive on the router side. Unifi has a much broader product range, both in APs and the wider UniFi system. They have AC Wave 2 models, more outdoor models and usable in-wall APs. Plus the option of a single interface for your whole network, routers, switches and APs.

I have just implemented the same setup (opnsense router, Unifi Access Points) as I didn't want the Unifi gateway. Biggest thing personally: Meraki APs will STOP WORKING if you stop paying your monthly fee to the cloud mothership. Aerohive access points are managed through the cloud, but are full linux boxes at each AP. If you stop paying to the mothership, you can still manage them individually. Wifi and routing is cheaper than other companies, but I feel like switching is about the same price without the warranty. The adoption / pushing updates is definitely a process and some ppl have problems. Check reddit.Unifi is great. They do have software quality control issues. If you disable auto update on your controller and pay attention to the release threads in the UniFi forums and only update when it's safe you'll be very happy. You're losing POE but that's about it. Worth the purchase if starting from scratch, less if just upgrading. No matter whether you get the UDM Pro or SE, get a switch (at least Pro series, Pro Max or Enterprise if planning to add WiFi 6E or 7 APs in the future). You would need UniFi hardware that can run protect (like a CloudKey or UniFi Dream Machine) and UniFi cameras. If you want to run Protect, you need an appropriate device to run it: CK G2+, Protect NVR, UDM-Pro, or UDM-SE.
